Scenes From 'All Good Things' | Analysis

The start of this films presents scene which shows extreme wide shots at night time. It's showing the surroundings to create the atmosphere of 'fear' as there are no shots of the people speaking. You can hear a conversation between 2 people in a car very clearly, with diegetic sounds such as birds in the trees. This could imply that the area is very quiet and untouched by man made things (natural), and that it's not commonly a place that people are, especially at night. This has connotations of secrecy, and maybe something bad is about to happen where no one can see, or have any evidence of it happening. The lighting in this scene is low key, as there is only one source of light which is the moon, with minor lighting around the area, however this has no impact it.
